I have a big place in my heart for Hugh Dempsey’s writing and have a book shelf set aside for other writers as well who so eloquently told the history of the west, the way it truly played out. I’ve got to say that the book that most moved me to tears, and there were several, was the story of Crowfoot and if you have not read it, I highly recommend it. One only needs to walk along the Oldman River, through the coulees of southern Alberta, to feel the power of the Great Plains Chiefs in the air. It gives a person the chills. Go to the base of Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump as well….that will cause your legs to tremble, that is, if you really listen to the wind.
Hugh Dempsey’s list is HUGE and so, I’ve published, from Wikipedia, selected titles.
