Helen Mackie 2004

I made painting contributions to the Cork and Canvas events to raise funds for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra over three or four years and so received complementary tickets to the same event.  In 2004, I spotted this Helen Mackie print interspersed with the silent auction items.  I had, for a long time, admired her work, and see her as an important historical artist of this area.  I was very motivated to purchase this piece number 22/50 and in the end, won it.

Helen Mackie 2 Helen MackieI always enjoy taking friends out to this very spot at the Leighton Art Center and Studio when they come to town for a visit.  This view and the hill makes me so happy.  I like that the house is represented along with the deer and the land forms.
