On February 26, 2002, I wrote in a journal…

“God sustains me…and God is the Creator…I create…art sustains me.  Art lifts me up so that in some strange way, I can see myself more clearly.  When I believe that there is absolutely no way I can pick myself up again, no way that I can be strong, I pick up a paint brush instead.  So many times this brush has made me turn tears, to celebration.  I am grateful for the rough pull of canvas on my knuckles, for the smell of paint, for colour that moves me to a higher place.”

Guillaume Apollinaire wrote…
