March 19, 2012 10:30 a.m. Weather 0 degrees, blue skies Findings: Still not finished cleaning out the corner of the fence area, but filled a bag quickly with plastic bags and business fliers. Back to the same location tomorrow. The large dumpsters are being dragged away from the side of the Sports Center. There’s also a team stripping nails out of sign structures in the parking lot…two guys working, two guys watching. I considered having one of them take our archival photo, but passed on that.
I would like to engage some/any interested parties from the school to help with what I call, the school slope. It doesn’t matter how often I clean up there, there is more lunch time packaging routinely heaped there. The waterfowl have already begun to nest below this slope. It brings to mind some photographs and a story I read some time ago…something that really stuck with me.
I spoke to Lisa, from the City of Calgary, today…talked to her about the frequency of bin pick-up, the accessibility of bags and the Adopt-a-Park program. She applauded my work. It was good to make the connection.

After you talk with the principal at the high school, you could with the principal, Lisa from the city and yourself get yourselves on t.v. and other local media to talk about and challenge other schools. This could be done perhaps through the student councils. An idea….
I don’t want to get myself on t.v (having a smile here) but, certainly, I will be gradually inviting people to participate…but mostly by leading through example. A lady was walking her little girl on the track today…they were observing me, with curiosity.
