Another Day in Paradise!

Our Gospel reading last Sunday was from John 1: 35-43.  Jesus asked me, “What are you looking for?”  And all week, I’ve been thinking about my response to that question.  As the temperatures plummet to -37 degrees with the wind chill, I feel really warm inside!  I am feeling that the liturgical year is anything but Ordinary!  For me, life IS another day in Paradise!  I know!  I know!  Life continues to deliver its worries and its concerns, but around every corner is mystery and plenty!  I do not take the abundance that comes with living in Canada, for granted.  I am thankful, every day.

I continue to be neck-deep in chaos, here at home.  There is so much to be done in order that there is a sense of calm in this space.  Right now, there is a sprawl of disorganization, but very gradually, bits are advertised and given away via freecycle and boxes full of stuff are delivered to the Women In Need shops.  Slowly, there is a sense of space in the cubbies, drawers and closets as I minimize the sheer numbers of objects surrounding me.  I am looking forward to achieving a sense of peace for my children and me.  I am looking for a sense of peace.  I am looking to bring a sense of God’s light and presence to the world.  I am looking to begin with me.

She calls out to the man on the street
“Sir, can you help me?
It’s cold and I’ve nowhere to sleep
Is there somewhere you can tell me?”

He walks on, doesn’t look back
He pretends he can’t hear her
He starts to whistle as he crosses the street
She’s embarrassed to be there

Oh, think twice, it’s just another day for
For you and me in paradise
Oh, think twice, it’s just another day
For you, you and me in paradise
Just think about it

She calls out to the man on the street
He can see she’s been cryin’
She’s got blisters on the soles of her feet
She can’t walk but she’s tryin’

Oh, just think twice, it’s just another day
For you and me in paradise
Oh, yes think twice, it’s just another day
For you, you and me in paradise
Just think about it, just think about it

Oh Lord, is there nothing more anybody can do?
Oh Lord, there must be something you can say

You can tell by the lines on her face
You can see that she’s been there
Probably been moved on from every place
‘Cause she didn’t fit in there

Oh, yes think twice, it’s just another day
For you and me in paradise
Oh, yes think twice, it’s just another day
For you, you and me in paradise
Just think about it, just think about it

It’s just another day
For you and me in paradise
It’s just another day
For you and me in paradise

It’s just another day
For you and me in paradise
It’s just another day
For you and me in paradise

It’s just another day
For you and me
It’s another day
For you and me

It’s another day
For you and me in paradise
In paradise
