Given the recent news coming out of France, Canadians need to take action regarding their environment, resources, energy consumption and all issues that directly impact the status of global warming. I’ve watched An Inconvenient Truth with my own children and I am certain that most of my students at school have viewed the film along with their Social Studies/Media Analysis classes.
As a furthur extension of this study, I have spoken to my art students about this issue and have connected it with habitat and environment. We are creating an installation sculpture, with each student making an individual contribution of several stylized penguins. The grade nine students, when all ceramics have been glazed, will create the installation in our main foyer. I’m hoping you will follow the progress of this work as the photo album, like all others posted here, will continue to grow with the progression experienced at school.
