Alright! It wouldn’t be fair to ONLY review movies that ‘wow’ me. Friends With Money fell short for me.
I like art that evokes a personal connection and response. This movie did an excellent job of pulling at my heart strings and establishing an empathy through its characterization. I was fairly wrapped up in the intimate lives and personalities of this little group of friends, and especially by Olivia who is played by Jennifer Aniston, but then all too suddenly, I was almost projected out of the theatre…the ending was so abrupt and really unresolved.
The movie Love Actually would have similar relational development. However, in this movie, the relationships are primarily resolved for us, after having been layered and networked in an interesting way.
Friends With Money is a rental…not one for the theatres.
